Financial Modeling Practice for REPE, PE & IB

Institutional financial modeling, graded to the cell.

Analysts and students build models from a blank grid. No templates, no fill-in-the-blank. A deterministic engine checks every formula against a real answer key and reports exactly what broke.

Live grading, unedited: a target cell is evaluated the moment focus leaves it.

01What Is SheetRank

A practice platform that grades the model, not the memory.

Not a video course and not a PDF answer key. You build the actual thing, and software checks your work.

01

You build the model

Open a real deal and start from a blank grid (the LBO, the DCF, the REPE underwriting), the same way you'd be asked to in a technical interview. No fill-in-the-blank template.

02

It's graded like an associate would

The moment you finish, a deterministic engine checks every formula against a real answer key and tells you exactly which cell broke, no waiting on a mentor's calendar.

03

Built for the whole path

Candidates prepping for offers, students breaking in, and analysts keeping their technicals sharp once the job starts, all training against the same graded standard.

02Grading Engine

Deterministic, published rules, not a rubric.

The same answer key runs on every submission. No human grading variance, no partial-credit negotiation, no waiting for a mentor to look at it.

CheckRuleDetail
Formula integrityRequiredA target cell must resolve through a formula referencing its precedents. A typed constant matching the answer is rejected.
Currency tolerance±$1Absolute figures like NOI, debt service, and exit proceeds are checked to the dollar against the model's own computed key.
Rate / IRR tolerance±0.1%IRR-style returns are compared within 0.001 absolute (0.1 percentage points). Legacy percentage metrics use a tighter ±0.01% band.
Multiple tolerance±0.05×MOIC and similar multiples are accepted within ±0.05 of the answer key (for example 2.00× passes 1.95×–2.05×).
Scenario coverageHiddenEach submission is re-evaluated against scenarios not shown during the build, so a model tuned to one set of inputs fails.
Partial creditPer targetEvery checkpoint is scored independently, so a broken debt schedule doesn't zero out a correct revenue build above it.
Error tracingCell-levelA failed target reports the precedent chain that produced it, so the student sees which input broke the output.
03Platform

Six modules on one grading engine.

Everything below scores against the same deterministic key, so a student's standing is comparable across drills, coursework, and assigned deals.

01

Deal Flow

Timed teasers and offering memoranda across REPE, PE, and IB. Build the pro forma from an empty grid the way a first-year would.

02

Academy

Guided, step-by-step builds with cell-level verification at every step, so the engine catches a wrong reference before it propagates.

03

Speed Sessions

Single-archetype drills against the clock: debt schedules, draw schedules, waterfalls, accretion/dilution, comps.

04

Lesson Tracks

Multi-stage assignments where each night's work carries forward into the next, so a model is built the way one actually gets built.

05

Classes

Rosters, due dates, late penalties, a live gradebook, per-student skill breakdowns, and submission review with private notes.

06

LMS Integration

LTI 1.3 Advantage: launch from Canvas, roster sync via NRPS, and automatic grade passback to the institution's own gradebook.

Teaching a section? SheetRank is free for instructors. Students pay for their own access, like a textbook.

04Academy

Guided builds, verified step by step.

Each step names its target cell and checks the formula before the next one unlocks, so a wrong reference is caught where it happens rather than surfacing as a broken return three schedules later.
